SkiWise LLC Mission:

To utilize a Clinical Coordinated Care Approach to improve the lives of individuals, families, communities and front line responders by creating, enhancing, and accessing a system of support through a strengths-based, clinically relevant, culturally responsive, consumer-driven model.

Part-time internships or practica are offered for graduate students in counseling, psychology or social work, or post graduates seeking licensure. The goal of the training program is to provide an intensive and diverse clinical experience that is consistent with the training needs, interests and level of expertise of the individual student. Graduate and post graduate training, supervision and support is a major priority of our staff and there is a strong commitment to reflective, clinical diagnostic and administrative supervision along with relevant professional education, practical experience and considerations for environmental sociological systems that impact treatment.

Supervision

Interns / Supervisees will be engaged in a clinical, reflective and administrative supervision process whereas their practical experiences, thoughts, and feelings are directly connected with the work. Reflective supervision is characterized by active listening and thoughtful questioning of SELF in the process of providing support services by both parties. The role will be to help the supervisee to answer their own questions and to provide the support and knowledge necessary to guide decision-making. In addition, the supervisor provides an empathetic, nonjudgmental ear to the supervisee. Working through complex emotions in a “safe place” allows the intern / supervisee to manage the stress experienced, diversity, equity and inclusion wherewithal on the job, and professional personal biases. It also allows the staff person to experience the very sort of relationship that she is expected to provide for infants, toddlers, and families. Emphasis will be provided on professional self care, compassion fatigue and managing vicarious trauma.

Each intern / Supervisee will function under a clinical supervisor and supported by administrative staff who is a member of the professional team. Weekly one-hour supervision meetings focus on the development of counseling skills and treatment planning for individual clients.

INTERNSHIP AND PRACTICUM SUPERVISEE APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Eligibility

Applicants may be candidates for the M.Ed., MA, M.S.W. in programs of clinical psychology, counseling, or social work. Practicum applicants preferably should have completed courses in the theories of counseling or psychotherapy, ethics, and in basic counseling or psychotherapy skills.

Commitment / Time:

Candidates must be willing to commit for Two (2) Semesters, thereby registered with university as field practicum option. Clinical Supervision will be expected to commit a full calendar year. Candidates must be willing to provide 10 hours per week, thereby managing a small caseload with emphasis on direct treatment and documentation. Candidates must allow for flexibility to engage in professional development, heavy upfront, but more client centered upon completion of formal training. Candidates must commit to one (1) supervision weekly and (1) didactics. These efforts will be carried out in person or virtually, in person (when possible thereby adhering to CDC protocols), in office and in the community. Please note that the target population for client services will be in the St. Louis City zip code areas.

Compensation: 10 per week @ $20 per hour

Stipend for professional development: $500 per Semester / or 6 mos commitment at the end of commitmen(Details to be discussed upon selection of candidate)

State Certified Supervisors provides an empathetic, nonjudgmental ear to the supervisee. Clinician In Training (CIT) will experience various sorts of therapeutic relationships which will allow for great didactic learning opportunities. Emphasis will be provided on professional self care, compassion fatigue and managing vicarious trauma.

Each intern will function under a clinical supervisor and supported by administration staff who is a member of the professional team. Weekly one-hour supervision meetings focus on the development of interns’ counseling skills and treatment planning for individual clients. Graduate interns and provisionally licensed clinicians are viewed as colleagues and are encouraged to be actively involved with the staff and with the development of new programs and workshops.
