Implementation Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation Infant Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (IECMHC)is prevention-based service that pairs a mental health consultant with families and adults who work with infants and young children in the different settings where they learn and grow, such as child care, preschool, and their home.
The goal is to enhance and integrate mental health stratagies as early intervention and prevention tool to increase self care, awareness and symptom management while educating on the importance of social emotional development of unborn child and beyond.
Increasing Early Chhildhood Services Providers / caregivers knowledge of the importance of Social Emotional development and Reducing stigma and culturally related biases is in direct correlation between emerging mental health challenges and perpetuation of associated stigma to mental illness in caregivers, child care providers and the health and well-being of the baby/child.
Infant-early childhood mental health (I-ECMH) is the developing capacity of the child from birth to 5 years of age to form close relationships, manage and express emotions, and explore the environment and learn.
This capacity building resource will encompass both professional development opportunities highlighting best practices and reflective supervision processes by licensed & certified clinician, with additional specialty in IECMH consultation which will provide Individual and group processing in support in enhancing social and emotional interactions with children to ensure nurturing supportive relationship for children to thrive.
This treatment program is designed to alleviate the distress of infant or young child’s mental health problem, support caregivers towards healthier more informed interventions, and the return to healthy development and behavior through a system wide effort.
